Responsibilities:

As the first full-time developer on the team, you will be responsible for building the MVP of our product, DiscoLink. Your primary responsibility will be turning Figma designs, user interview notes, and product goals into features for our first set of beta users, and helping to create a product that helps people generate revenue through multiple streams of income.

Your job will also include figuring out what to build by talking to users, prioritizing features, and determining the fastest way to test and experiment. Your startup experience will be imperative as we need to move fast, do what’s necessary, learn, and then make the product better. Make it work, make it right, make it fast is the order we work in, and the “make it work” part in these early days is most important.

You should enjoy pair programming and will be collaborating closely with Saron, the founder who’s built the product so far. You should enjoy talking to users and incorporating their feedback into product decisions. You should be comfortable developing in a startup environment, knowing when to cut corners to get a feature out the door and when to move slow and do it right. Bonus points if you use Vim. We encourage you to embrace AI in your workflow without still being responsible for any AI-generated code.

You can check out the landing page for DiscoLink as well as the DiscoLink of our first user (https://disco.link/nadia).

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION

I'm an immigrant, woman of color born in Ethiopia and my only other full-time hire is also a woman. We're also both mothers to young children and are extremely flexible with schedules and commitments. Balance is very important to us. Since there's only two of us right now, we haven't created formal policies around DEI, but it's always top of mind. Right now, it plays out in how we select our guests, who we feature in our content, and what kind of creators and entrepreneurs we support. We're always checking to make sure we use our platform responsibly and surface underrepresented voices in our marketing and content efforts.
